I can't think of many presidents, at all, who used it as a stepping stone. Only Witt comes to mind.

But, hell, even if it were, I don't have any problem whatsoever with a pres doing such a good job that it attracts the attention of others. Undoubtedly, we have had presidents who could have taken other lucrative jobs but, in fact, didn't. In other situations, however, there may be jobs that are hard to turn down. So, if a guy comes-in here for a respectable length of time and turns-heads, moves-on, that's fine with me. It is almost a desirable situation, although, of course, you don't really want to lose somebody good. But, you just go out and get another.

I am ultra-happy with Spaniolo. He has been here long enough to do some fantastic things, some of which are in the works.

I agree ... generally UTA has made only progress since Spaniolo took office ... maybe not as much progress as some of us want, or in maybe in certain areas ...

but under his tenure he accomplished two MONSTER achievements, getting a Special Events Center and a high dollar commitment from the city of Arlington, which is the 18 million dollar commitment they gave last week ... those have been goals for what, 20, 30, 40 years?

let alone the engineering building, the chemistry building ... I would say he has succeeded ... that said, it would be pretty nice if he at least acknowledged the 5 year pledge that has elapsed ... it really does border on lying ... that kind of thing can erase a LOT of goodwill ...

I can understand why you could be disappointed with the 5-year review comment. I'm not sure why he made it in the first place, but, given that he did, he should speak-up to update a possible time table or to, at least as far as he is concerned, put the matter to rest. Maybe he will address it in the spring semester.

true, it is all pretty trivial ... looks like march 5th will be the ground breaking for the SEC .... maybe it will be addressed then, should be a lot of cameras ... would make a splash ...

would make sense for him to "announce" something then but I highly, HIGHLY doubt it.

oh yeah, would be shocked if something was said ... but honestly you only want the big crowd if you say something good ... if they were to shoot it down, the timing would be terrible ... but it is the perfect platform to announce you are initiating a capital campaign for football ... just sayin

Maybe the crappy economy has something to do with the silence as well, heck I just don't know.
